How to Play Liar’s Bar

The game offers two modes for now: Liar’s Dice and Liar’s Deck. Both involve bluffing—claiming dice or cards you may not have—and trying to get your opponents to make the wrong call. If you mess up, though, you might get sent to playing Russian Roulette or drink a posion.

Yeah, it’s brutal.

Liar's Deck

In Liar's deck each game start with the game selecting a type of the table, for example "King's Table".

And from now on, each card you play will be declared as "King".
You can play truthfully, or bluff..

As soon as the player left to you places a card, you can believe him, or call him a LIAR.
If you call someone a liar, their cards will automatically show and determine who plays the Russian Roulette.

• If the player DID tell you the truth, and you called him a liar, you play the Russian Roulette.
• Otherwise, if he told you a lie, he will get to that sweet gun and play Russian Roulette!
• But if you choose to ignore, you play your cards and the player to the right of you will choose either to believe you or call you out.

Each time you will be given a total of 5 cards
The table itself will either be a King's table, Queen's table or an Ace's table.
The deck itself consists of: 6 Aces, 6 Kings, 6 Queens and 2 Jokers*.
The gun's barrel has 6 chambers and only in one of them it has a bullet.

Liar's Dice

Liar's dice is played a little different, instead of there being a Russian Roulette, you have 2 "Lives".

Those, are your Lives, if you drink the second one, you are DEAD.

Each person is dealt with 5 dices.

Your job is to try and tell how much dices there are of a certain number total on the whole table.

Let's say you have three of 2's, you can say "On the whole table there are six 2's", and bid on it.
If the person after you calls it a bluff, everybody then automatically show their dices and the game counts how much of the same number is there.
If there is not enough, you drink one of your "Lives", if however there are more or exactly what you said, the person that called it a lie must lose one of its lives.

If you think that the person on the left is saying the truth, you can try and risk it and raise the count and choose a different number.

Joker*

In Liar's Deck the Joker can be counted as ANY card!

So if you're lucky like the guy in the picture and the table is a Queen's table, you have 4 Queens.

In Liar's Dice the "Joker" is present only if you are playing the Traditional Liar's Dice.

The 1 in this case can be ANY number you want. For example, the dude on that picture has four 3's or two 5's or one of any other number.

Basic VS Devil, Basic VS Traditional

In Liar's Deck the Devil set offers you one special card, 'The Devil's Card'

In the WHOLE deck there will only be ONE Devil's Card.

The Devil's Card can only be played alone.
If someone calls you out on it, EVERYBODY plays Russian Roulette except YOU!
The chance of getting the card is like getting any other card, 1 in 20.

Traditional Liar's Dice
If you have read the guide you noticed that the "Joker" on this gamemode appears only on the Traditional set, and it's true!
The one's will be counted as ANY number you want.
And there is one more surprise..

If you bid some number of dices EXACTLY, EVERYBODY drinks a poison except YOU!

Tips & Math

On this segment I will share a few basic tactics, tips and math that may help you win some games!

Really Basic Tactics

1. Don't be too predictable
If you lie every time, people will start calling you out. Mix things up, maybe tell the truth sometimes so they’re always second-guessing you. Make your pattern unpredictable!

2. Know When to Call a Bluff
Calling out every lie will backfire eventually. Instead, pick your moments. If someone is making a bold claim that doesn’t line up with the odds (we’ll talk numbers soon), that’s the time to probably call it.

3. Play the Long Game
Even if you could call a bluff now, sometimes it's smarter to let it slide, especially if the person is already on thin ice.

4. Psych Out Your Opponents
Throw in some banter. Act like you are annoyed or even confident, even if you’re bluffing. People are easier to trick if they think they’ve already got you figured out.

5. Lie even when you don't have to
This one is my personal favourite! If someone throws cards big like 3 or 2 to someone else, tell the one who decides that you have 4 of the same card and it cannot be the truth. You can also just try and convince them using your own words, even if it is the truth, you don't lose anything!

Now let's do some math

Dice Probabilities in Liar’s Dice
Everyone rolls five dice, meaning there are 20 dice total (for four players). Each die has a 1 in 6 chance of landing on any specific number. So, on average:

Expected 3's: 20 x 1/6 ≈ 3.33

This tells you that if someone claims eight 3’s, it’s probably a lie. You can challenge that with some-what confidence since the odds of eight or more 3’s showing up is super low less than 4%. But don't forget the luck of the players, the player could have miracously five 3's and you'd lose. So think carefully...

Russian Roulette Odds

The first time you play Russian Roulette, the chance of survival is 5 out of 6, or about 83.3%. Not too bad, right?
But if you get unlucky and play it more than once, things start to look bad:

How can you use this math?

Let’s say your friend claims there are five 6’s on the table (out of 10 total dice). If your roll has only one 6, then the remaining dice would need to have four more 6’s. The chance of that happening? Less than 5%.

What Should You Do?
In this case, call their bluff. They probably don’t have that many 6’s, and even if they do, the odds were in your favour to challenge.

Practical Tips to Get Better

1. Track Signals:
When lying most players will try to get your attention elsewhere, for example on the bear that is standing up or just laughing about something. Try and track those patterns, they are usually lying when they do this.

2. Know When to Fold
If calling a bluff might send you to Russian Roulette and you’re really unconfident, just let it go. Surviving is usually more important than taking every risk.

3. Spot Patterns
Watch how people behave. Some players always lie big, others only lie when they’re cornered.
Some people can always lie at their first card, or always tell the truth.
Spotting these patterns will help you predict their next move.

At the end of the day, Liar’s Bar is all about balancing risk and reward. Bluff too much, and you’ll get called out. Play too safe, and you’ll miss out on opportunities. Use the math and probabilities to back your decisions, but don’t forget to trust your instincts and read your opponents.
